Bharat Singh Chauhan Re-elected as Commonwealth Chess Association Chairman

Veteran sports administrator Bharat Singh Chauhan has been unanimously re-elected as Chairman of the Commonwealth Chess Association for a four-year term. His re-election signifies trust in his leadership to promote chess in Commonwealth countries. Key positions were filled during the meeting in Sri Lanka, ensuring new initiatives and championships.

Bharat Singh Chauhan, a veteran in sports administration, has secured another term as the Chairman of the Commonwealth Chess Association (CCA), marking an unopposed re-election for a four-year term. The decision was made during the Annual General Body Meeting held in Wasakaduwa, Sri Lanka.

A press release from CCA lauds Mr. Chauhan's visionary leadership and lifelong dedication towards strengthening and promoting chess across Commonwealth nations. With his extensive background, having served as the secretary of the All India Chess Federation and currently holding pivotal roles in international chess organizations, his leadership continues to inspire trust.

The elections also saw Malaysia's Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidsh Sanusi elected as Deputy Chairman, and Sri Lanka's G Luxman Wijesuriya appointed as General Secretary. South Africa's Vicky Magu takes the role of Treasurer. The Association plans to launch a Commonwealth School Chess Championship in Malaysia this October.
