Rajat Patidar's Explosive Knock Propels RCB to Record-breaking IPL Playoff Total
Rajat Patidar's thunderous 93 off 33 balls, supported by contributions from Kohli, Padikkal, and Pandya, powered RCB to a record 254/5 against Gujarat Titans in the IPL Qualifier. This feat marks the highest-ever total in an IPL playoff match, achieved at Dharamsala by RCB.
In a historic display of batting prowess, Rajat Patidar's explosive innings powered Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a record-breaking total in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans in Dharamsala on Tuesday. Scoring 254/5, RCB set a new benchmark for the highest-ever total in an IPL playoff or knockout match.
Patidar's awe-inspiring knock of 93 runs from just 33 deliveries was the highlight, supported by vital innings from Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli opened alongside Venkatesh Iyer, who set the tone with a gallant start, scoring 19 before falling to Kagiso Rabada. Padikkal joined the fray, attacking with successive boundaries and guiding RCB to a formidable start.
Despite a mid-innings slump due to Jason Holder's pivotal strikes removing Kohli and Padikkal, skipper Patidar and Krunal Pandya regained momentum for RCB. Their belligerence in the final overs, notably against Kulwant Khejroliya and Rashid Khan, set the stage for a dominant finish as Jitesh Sharma and Patidar piled on runs against the Titans' bowlers.
