Indian Women's Hockey Team Evens Series with Shootout Victory Over Australia
The Indian women's hockey team secured a 4-2 win in the shootout against Australia after leveling the score 1-1 in regular time. Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam equalized the game, and the team excelled in the shootout, tying the four-match series 1-1. The next match is set for Friday.
The Indian women's hockey team showcased resilience and skill as they came from behind to draw 1-1 and eventually triumphed 4-2 in the shootout against Australia. This victory helped India level the ongoing four-match friendly series at 1-1 on Wednesday.
Australia initially led the contest with Olivia Downes scoring in the 10th minute at the Perth Hockey Stadium. However, the Indian squad responded tenaciously, intensifying their offence particularly through strategic penalty corners and consistent pressure on the Australian defense.
It was not until the final quarter that India equalized, thanks to a goal from Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam in the 46th minute. In the ensuing shootout, India emerged victorious with decisive goals from Navneet Kaur, Ishika Chaudhary, Annu, and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal.
The teams will face off again in the third match of the series this Friday as anticipation builds for another thrilling encounter.
