Maurizio Sarri and Lazio have mutually decided to end their partnership, the Serie A club confirmed on Wednesday. The experienced 67-year-old manager finished his most recent spell with the Rome-based club following a season that saw them end in ninth place and runners-up in the Coppa Italia.

Sarri’s recent departure marks a stark contrast to his previous three-year term from 2021 to 2024, during which he took Lazio to a second-place finish in 2023. He left initially due to family commitments. According to Italian media, Sarri is expected to join Atalanta, while Gennaro Gattuso is rumored to take over at Lazio.

This managerial shuffle coincides with AC Milan's decision to part ways with their manager Massimiliano Allegri, just a day after the end of the Serie A season.
