As the nation celebrates Eid, Congress leader Muzaffar Hussain expressed doubts about the government's strategy to address the controversy surrounding Eid sacrifice in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region's residential societies. Addressing the matter, Hussain referenced the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations (BPMC) Act and judicial guidelines on slaughter facilities during Bakrid.

Hussain asserted that the Constitution guarantees religious practice rights and underlined that the BPMC Act mandates permanent slaughterhouses within municipal limits. He highlighted court directives requiring municipalities to permit temporary abattoirs for religious occasions like Bakrid, emphasizing citizen rights in religious observance.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya flagged illegal animal sacrifices in areas like Mankhurd and Govandi, calling for prompt intervention by authorities. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation revoked an earlier permit for qurbani at a Goregaon building and redirected residents to designated slaughter facilities, aligning with policing efforts to maintain order during the festival.
