Shetty prevailed over China's Weng Hong Yang with scores of 8-21, 22-20, 21-15. Meanwhile, Rohan and Ruthvika defeated Chinese Taipei's Yang Po-Hsuan and Hu Ling Fang decisively, with a 21-14, 21-14 win.
The former world junior bronze medallist, Shetty, showed resilience by overturning an initial setback to defeat world number 15 Weng for the second consecutive match. After a challenging first game loss, Shetty quickly gained the upper hand in the second, holding a narrow lead late into the game before seizing the final points to force a decider. The third game saw Shetty solidify his dominance and clinch the match within an hour and six minutes. His next opponent is Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu, who recently upset 4th seed Christo Popov.
The mixed doubles team showcased their skills in a straight-games victory over a higher-seeded pair from Chinese Taipei, finishing the match in just 34 minutes. Their upcoming challenge will be against the defending champions, Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue of France. Meanwhile, in the women's singles, PV Sindhu faces a tough task against An Se Young, while Hariharan-Arjun are set to clash with Malaysian opponents after their prior competitors withdrew due to injury.
