Benfica has declared that bringing Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid as a coach would incur a €15 million charge, according to a statement made to Portugal's CMVM market regulator. This fee arises from Mourinho's current contract termination clause with Benfica, valid until June 2027.

Florentino Perez, contending for re-election as Real Madrid President on June 7, expressed his commitment to appointing Mourinho. Earlier, Perez noted Mourinho, alongside Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate, would be his initial signings if re-elected. Currently, Perez is opposed by Enrique Riquelme in the first Real Madrid presidential election in two decades.

Mourinho's potential appointment comes against Real Madrid's eradication from the Champions League in recent seasons, pressuring Perez to focus on significant roster upgrades. Mourinho, previously guiding the club to LaLiga history, is also familiar from past tenures at major teams like Manchester United and Benfica.
