Kimi Antonelli: The F1 Prodigy with No Appetite for Two Wheels
Kimi Antonelli, a 19-year-old Italian Formula 1 driver, prefers the stability of F1 racing over the precariousness of MotoGP's two wheels. While admiring MotoGP racers' bravery, Antonelli remains focused on the challenges of F1's new regulations, demonstrating respect and choosing safety over risk.
Racing at over 300kph on Monaco's narrow streets, Formula 1 leader Kimi Antonelli says he would never trade his four wheels for two. The 19-year-old Italian spoke after watching MotoGP at Mugello, expressing awe but no desire to partake in the high-speed onslaught of motorcycle racing.
"Doing 370kph on two wheels? That's madness," Antonelli, poised to clinch another victory, told reporters. "I have immense respect for MotoGP riders. But, for me, safety means choosing the stability of four wheels over the unpredictability of two." His comments follow as Formula 1 navigates new rule changes, optimizing electric power and aerodynamics.
Despite the adjustments, Antonelli notes Monaco's iconic track won't reflect the full impact. "It's a return to what city track racing was - focusing purely on driving," added Antonelli, concluding that safety and skill should not be compromised by technological shifts.
