IOA President P T Usha Unveils Olympian Initiatives for Celebration and Awareness
Indian Olympic Association President P T Usha announced a Fun Run for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and a nationwide tree plantation on Olympic Day, June 23. The initiatives aim to promote Olympic values and encourage healthy lifestyles, alongside a green drive to plant 2,036 trees across India.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P T Usha on Thursday emphasized the importance of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Fun Run, scheduled as part of this month's Olympic Day celebrations. Speaking in Thiruvananthapuram, Usha revealed the plans, highlighting the annual Olympic Day’s focus on promoting sport and health globally.
Olympic Day, marked every June 23, celebrates the birth of the modern Olympic movement. It serves to inspire excellence and foster friendship and respect, encouraging people everywhere to pursue active, healthy lives. Usha noted that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has a unique Fun Run arranged to raise awareness about the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.
Usha further announced a large-scale environmental initiative, synchronizing with the Olympic Day events. 2,036 trees will be planted across India, marking the upcoming Asian Games year. This environmental drive, along with the Fun Run, aims to engage the public and emphasize sustainability ahead of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
