Former Indian captain Kapil Dev has praised the young batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, describing him as an extraordinary talent. The 15-year-old has already showcased abilities that are rare at such a young age, earning him his first national call-up.

Recognizing the long road ahead, Dev wished Sooryavanshi success while emphasizing the need for the young cricketer to remain focused and grounded. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Sooryavanshi's inclusion in the national squad for the European tour on Saturday, making him the youngest player ever selected for the Indian men's team.

Sooryavanshi has notably shattered a 36-year-old record set by Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted against Pakistan in 1989 at 16. Following a sensational Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season with the Rajasthan Royals, Sooryavanshi emerged as the tournament's highest run-scorer, thanks to his formidable strike rate and record-breaking feats.
