In a resounding display of dominance, India thrashed Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in their one-off Test match at New Chandigarh, bolstered by standout performances from captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul. Also making headlines was Manav Suthar, who delivered a sensational debut that left the visitors reeling.

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi conceded that his team faltered due to indisciplined bowling from the start, making it difficult to match India’s prowess on home turf. He noted that the experience against such a formidable side offered invaluable lessons, particularly in managing pressure as Afghanistan continues to gain success.

Suthar’s disciplined bowling earned widespread praise, claiming six wickets for just 33 runs over 22 overs. His extraordinary performance not only earned him the Player of the Match accolade but also etched his name in the record books, ranking as the second-best Indian bowler debut figures, following Narendra Hirwani’s 1988 feat.
