Djed Spence: Defending with Resolve Despite Injury

England defender Djed Spence will face the World Cup challenge with a protective mask after breaking his jaw in a recent Premier League encounter. The Tottenham player sustained the injury during a clash with Chelsea's Liam Delap and had to wear a mask in the season's finale against Everton.

Speaking to reporters, Spence acknowledged the discomfort of wearing the mask but emphasized its necessity. 'I've got a broken jaw, so I have to wear it throughout the tournament,' he explained. The injury, expected to take three months to fully heal, means Spence will need to adjust to playing with the mask for an extended period.

Despite the injury, Spence expressed relief in being able to continue playing, citing his position's demand on his feet rather than his jaw. As the World Cup approaches, England will begin their campaign against Croatia in Dallas, followed by matches against Ghana and Panama.
