In an impressive bout, Poonam forged ahead in the women's 54kg division by securing a commanding 5-0 win over Uzbekistan's Aziza Yokubova. Deepak mirrored her success in the men's 70kg category, outclassing Turkmenistan's Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov with another unanimous 5-0 verdict.

Unfortunately, other Indian contenders faltered; Rishi Singh lost to Azerbaijan's Subhan Mamedov, Sanamacha Chanu Thokchom faced defeat by Canada's Tammara Thibeault, while others, like Anmol and Harsh Choudhary, also exited early.
