Rangers sign INF Forsythe to minor league contract

The Texas Rangers signed free agent infielder Logan Forsythe to a minor league contract Tuesday with an invitation to major league spring training. The deal could be worth $2 million if Forsythe makes the major league roster, Jon Heyman reported.

Forsythe, 32, split the 2018 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins. He batted .232 with two home runs and 27 RBIs in 120 games and hit .304 with runners in scoring position. He has played in 857 games over eight seasons with the San Diego Padres (2011-13), Tampa Bay Rays (2014-16), Dodgers (2017-18) and Twins, batting .248 with 63 homers and 266 RBIs.

Primarily a second baseman, Forsythe has also started games at third base, shortstop, first base and in the outfield. --Field Level Media
