Ankit Thakkar of Matunga Gymkhana (-150 handicap) and Amit Sapru of Park Club (-170 handicap) produced steady performances to win their respective round of 32 matches in the Maharashtra Challenger Tour (Billiards 2019) here Wednesday. Ankit was in complete control as he raced past Garware Club House player Karan Gandhi (-50) 200-151, while Amit played consistently to sideline Khar Gymkhanas Manoj Kasare (-90) by a convincing 200-152 points margin.
Both Ankit and Amit will clash in the next round of the tournament, organised by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, top seed Sparsh Pherwani (-225) breezed past Thane's Mithil Shinde (-40) coasting to a comfortable 200-167 victory.
Second seed Hasan Badami of the Cricket Club of India (-190) proved too good for the Hindu Gymkhanas Shayam Kotak (-80) by posting an easy 200-132 points win to also progress into pre-quarter finals..
