England and Australia might be focussing all their energy on the upcoming 50 over World Cup but shortly after that fans will get a taste of cricket's oldest rivalry in the purest format Ashes 2019. There will be no doubt that Steven Smith's and Warner's return would boost the visitors and Joe Root should's arsenal should have special weapons for the duo.

The only solace for England on the last tour down under was the Melbourne draw courtesy a classy 244 by now-retired opener Alistair Cook. In hindsight, it was a miserable series for England, who were defeated 4-0 with very little to cheer.

David Warner's unbeaten 87 guided Australia to a 10-wicket win in the first game in Brisbane, while Shaun Marsh's unbeaten 126 did that for the visitors in Adelaide. Smith's 239 annihilated the three lions in Adelaide and the innings defeat in Sydney would have been a tough pill to swallow.

Things are expected to be different this time with Jimmy and Stuart polishing their swing bowling skills on helpful decks. Cameron Bancroft has performed well in leadership duties at Durham but his willow has not quite shone after return from the ban.

Stats Trivia

1. The first series took place in 1882-83, with the most recent in Australia in the winter of 2017-18.

2. Out of the 70 Test series so far, Australia have won 33 and England 32, with five draws.

3. Troy Cooley the Kangaroo bowling coach would step down after the Ashes stint.

England would definitely be favourites on home soil but the pace battery, Australia, have got can put even the best to shame. Pattinson would most likely be a fabulous option along with the evergreen trio of Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc.

Former Aussie fast bowler Jason Gillespie had recently said that Matt Renshaw had been hard done by selectors. He called the decision to not select Renshaw for the A tour as 'nonsense'. Australia head coach Justin Langer said that Joe Burns and Kurtis Patterson should not be too perturbed by missing on CA contracts and should rather focus on piling huge runs.
