Dodgers' Bellinger out of lineup due to shoulder injury

Hot-hitting Cody Bellinger wasn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the San Diego Padres due to a separated right shoulder suffered during Friday's game. Bellinger told reporters the shoulder "popped out" and immediately popped back in as he dove for a ball while playing first base on Friday night. Bellinger was examined by trainers and remained in the contest and later finished it in right field.
Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Bellinger would be able to pinch-hit if needed. "He was a little disappointed he wasn't in there tonight," Roberts told reporters before Saturday's game. "But I think the best thing is to give him an extra day."
Roberts said he expects Bellinger to return to the starting lineup on Sunday. Both Roberts and Bellinger said that the 23-year-old has had the shoulder pop out on previous occasions.
Bellinger entered Saturday as the major league-leader in batting average (.415), RBIs (38), hits (49) and runs scored (32). His 14 homers are tied for the most in the majors with Milwaukee star Christian Yelich. --Field Level Media
