Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Brazilian striker Wesley from Belgian side Club Brugge, the promoted Premier League club said on Thursday. Wesley, 22, will become Villa's third signing of the close season after Spanish winger Jota and Netherlands international Anwar El Ghazi, following their Championship playoff final win over Derby County last month.
"Aston Villa and Club Brugge have agreed the transfer of Brazilian striker Wesley, subject to a work permit and international clearance," Villa said in a statement https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2019/06/13/aston-villa-agree-wesley-transfer. British media reports said Villa would pay Club Brugge 22 million pounds ($27.89 million) for Wesley, which would eclipse their previous club record of an initial 18 million pounds for striker Darren Bent in 2011.
Wesley has spent the past four seasons with Club Brugge, helping them win two league titles and two Belgian Super Cups. He scored 17 goals last season.
