Twins place 3B Gonzalez on IL

Minnesota Twins third baseman/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a strained right hamstring. Gonzalez suffered the injury during Tuesday's 17-inning triumph over the Boston Celtics. He was pinch-hit for by Max Kepler in the sixth inning due to the injury.

Gonzalez is batting .255 with nine homers and 26 RBIs in 63 games for the Twins. Minnesota also placed right-hander Blake Parker on the family medical emergency list, recalled catcher/infielder Willians Astudillo and right-hander Sean Poppen from Triple-A Rochester and transferred left-hander Adalberto Mejia to the 60-day IL.

Parker is 0-2 with nine saves and a 4.26 ERA in 27 appearances. Astudillo batted .250 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 33 games for the Twins earlier this season, while Poppen will be making his big league debut should he enter a game. Poppen is 6-3 with a 2.97 ERA in 13 appearances (11 starts) across the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season.

Mejia, sidelined with a calf injury, was 0-1 with an 8.74 ERA in 11 appearances for Minnesota earlier this season.
