Twins reinstate LHP Mejia from 60-day IL

The Minnesota Twins reinstated left-hander Adalberto Mejia from the 60-day injured list Tuesday. The 26-year-old has not pitched for the Twins since April 30 due to a strained right calf.

Mejia is 0-1 with an 8.74 ERA in 11 appearances out of the Minnesota bullpen this season. In six rehab appearances at Class-A Fort Myers and Double-A Pensacola, he struck out 10 batters over seven scoreless innings.

The Twins cleared room on the 25-man roster by optioning left-hander Lewis Thorpe to Triple-A Rochester. He took the loss in his major league debut Sunday in Chicago, allowing two runs and striking out seven White Sox batters in five innings.
