The Pittsburgh Penguins signed rookie forward Sam Poulin to a three-year, entry-level deal, the team announced on Sunday. The Penguins drafted Poulin, 18, with the 21st overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.

"Sam is a good, young forward whose style is hard to play against," GM Jim Rutherford said in a statement announcing the deal. Poulin enters the league after two seasons with the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He finished with 45 goals, 76 assists in 122 games over those two seasons.

Since being drafted, Poulin scored two goals in three games at the Prospects Challenge in Buffalo and has played in two preseason games. --Field Level Media
