Penguins C Malkin leaves with apparent injury

- United States
Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin left Saturday's game against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets in the second period with an apparent injury. Malkin, the 2011-12 Hart Trophy winner, two-time Hart runner-up, and seven-time All-Star, appeared to trip over the skates of teammate Kris Letang at center ice. He limped down the runway toward the Penguins' locker room.
There was no immediate word on his status. Malkin, who is beginning his 14th season, has scored 392 goals, including the Penguins' only goal in a 3-1 season-opening loss in Pittsburgh to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.
