Pittsburgh Penguins forward Alex Galchenyuk and defenseman Brian Dumoulin were activated Tuesday after their recent stints on injured reserve. Galchenyuk, who was traded from the Arizona Coyotes to the Penguins in a June deal for veteran forward Phil Kessel, was limited during the preseason because of an undisclosed injury. He had been on IR since Oct. 9.
In 72 games with Arizona last season, Galchenyuk recorded 19 goals and 41 points, eclipsing the 40-point plateau for the fifth consecutive campaign. He led all Coyotes in his lone season with Arizona in goals (19, tied) and power-play goals (nine), while his 41 points were third best on the team. Galchenyuk spent the first six years of his career with the Montreal Canadiens, where he tallied 255 points (108 goals) in 418 games.
Dumoulin, who sustained a lower-body injury, has three assists in eight games. He is in his seventh season with the Penguins, collecting 77 points (10 goals, 67 assists), and was considered a key contributor to their back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017.
