Kyrie Irving's shoulder injury will keep him out of the next three games, including a highly anticipated matchup with his former team, the Boston Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets announced on Friday night. The Nets played the past four games without Irving, who is suffering from right shoulder impingement, before deciding to shut him down for the three-game road trip.

Irving suffered the injury Nov. 12 against the Utah Jazz. Despite his absence, the Nets have won their past two games to push their record to 7-8. They face the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers before Wednesday's game in Boston.

Irving, who is averaging 28.5 points, 7.2 assists, and 5.4 rebounds, spent the past two seasons with the Celtics before leaving for Brooklyn as a free agent.
