The Philadelphia Flyers placed leading scorer Travis Konecny on injured reserve on Sunday. Konecny has been sidelined since suffering a concussion on Dec. 7 in a game against the Ottawa Senators. He has been ruled out indefinitely.
Konecny has 11 goals and 17 assists (28 points) in 30 games. Philadelphia also placed forward Oskar Lindblom on IR. Lindblom will likely miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma -- a rare bone cancer -- last week.
Lindblom, who hails from Sweden, has 11 goals and seven assists (18 points) in 30 games. He is tied for the team lead in goals with Konecny. The team also placed forward Samuel Morin (knee) on long-term injured reserve.
The already shorthanded Flyers lost forwards Scott Laughton and Tyler Pitlick to undisclosed injuries during Saturday night's loss to the Minnesota Wild, prompting the recall of wingers Nicolas Aube-Kubel and Carsen Twarynski from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League for Sunday's game against the Winnipeg Jets. Twarynski had one goal in 14 games for the Flyers earlier this season. This is Aube-Kubel's first stint with Philadelphia this season. He was scoreless in nine games with the Flyers last season.
