Major League Baseball (MLB) teams secretly distorted player statistics and deprived fans of an "honest fantasy baseball competition," a lawsuit filed by a fan alleges in the fallout to a sign-stealing scandal involving the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox. The lawsuit, which named MLB, the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox as defendants, was filed in a Manhattan federal court on behalf of all fans who participated in DraftKings' fantasy baseball contests, which plaintiff Kristopher Olson claimed were tainted by the sign-stealing scandal.

NFL notebook: Vikings reportedly name Kubiak as OC

The Minnesota Vikings have named Gary Kubiak their offensive coordinator, according to a report Thursday by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Kubiak, 58, replaces Kevin Stefanski, who took the head coaching position with the Cleveland Browns.

Police issue warrant for Antonio Brown

The Hollywood (Florida) Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Antonio Brown, two days after the free agent wide receiver and his trainer allegedly attacked a moving company truck driver. Police spokesman Christian Latta said in a news release Wednesday that Brown faces charges of burglary with battery (a felony), burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and criminal mischief. Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640 reports there is no bond yet set for Brown.

Tearful Wozniacki heads into retirement after Jabeur defeat

A tearful but happy Caroline Wozniacki headed into retirement on Friday after a 7-5 3-6 7-5 third-round defeat at the hands of Tunisia's Ons Jabeur ended her participation in the Australian Open and her 16-year career. The 29-year-old said last year that Melbourne Park, where she won her lone Grand Slam title two years ago, would be the site of her final outing as a tennis professional.

Barty on a roll, moves into fourth round

World number one Ash Barty's expectations have not risen too high after she advanced to the second week of the Australian Open on Friday following a 6-3 6-2 third round victory over Elena Rybakina. Barty is arguably the best chance of ending Australia's long wait for a home-grown champion at the year's first grand slam, having held the world's top ranking since last September and with the Adelaide International title under her belt.

Garoppolo will seek to channel Brady 'calm' in Super Bowl

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will try to channel his inner Tom Brady "calm" when he leads the San Francisco 49ers into battle against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl in Miami on Feb. 2. Garoppolo already has two Super Bowl rings after being Brady's back-up in New England when the Patriots won the championship in the 2014 and 2016 seasons.

Rory McIlroy has contended in his first appearance every year dating back to 2014, and he seems primed for another strong performance based on the evidence of his first round at the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday. Seven-times champion Serena Williams suffered her earliest exit from the Australian Open in 14 years on Friday, falling 6-4 6-7(2) 7-5 to China's Wang Qiang in a stunning third round upset. Wang, who was thrashed by Williams in the U.S. Open quarter-finals, ended the American's bid for a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title at Melbourne Park.

NHL All-Star notebook: Flames, Oilers rivals set to team up

ST. LOUIS -- The "Battle of Alberta" seems unlikely to carry over to the NHL All-Star Game on Saturday night. Agitating Calgary Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk is on the Pacific Division team with forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl of the archrival Edmonton Oilers.
