New Instagram feature gives you control over sensitive content

Facebook defines sensitive content as posts that don't necessarily break the company's rules but could potentially be upsetting to some people - such as posts that may be sexually suggestive or violent or that promote the use of certain regulated products like tobacco or e-cigarette products.

Instagram has introduced a new feature called "Sensitive Content Control" that will help you control how much sensitive content (photos and videos) shows up on the Explore page.

Using the new setting, you can adjust the Sensitive Content Control to see more or less of some types of sensitive content. It will help you limit the content you may find upsetting or offensive.

Here's how to adjust the Sensitive Content Control on Instagram:

• Go to your profile
• Tap the Settings menu in the upper right corner
• Tap Account
• Tap Sensitive Content Control
• Decide whether to keep the setting at its default state i.e. Limit, or Allow, or Limit Even More
• Tap OK to confirm

While the control is automatically set to Limit, but you can choose to view more or less sensitive content at any time.

Limit

This default setting will show you some upsetting or offensive photos or videos.

Allow

When enabled, this setting will show you more photos and videos that could be upsetting or offensive. This option will not be available to people under 18.

Limit Even More

This option will show you fewer upsetting or offensive photos or videos

"This new feature gives you control over sensitive content. We recognize that everybody has different preferences for what they want to see in Explore, and this control will give people more choice over what they see. Our hope is that this gives you more choice, another way to make Instagram work better for you," Facebook wrote in a blog post on Tuesday.
