Blend of AI and human interaction key to employee productivity: Lenovo study

A Lenovo-commissioned global study of employees reveals that a majority of employees, more than 80%, prefer a blend of artificial intelligence (AI) and human interaction to stay productive at work.

The study conducted by YouGov surveyed 12,000 employees in ten key markets, including Australia, Brazil, China Mainland, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, the UK and the USA, from 23 February to 3 March 2023. 

Below are the key findings:

  • Nine in ten of the surveyed employees recognize that AI has a positive role to play in helping them stay productive.
  • 91% believe they would be more productive if their IT issues at work were resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Another 74% think inefficient IT support affects morale and hinders productivity.
  • An efficient and effective IT support system needs to be in place to power today's hybrid workforce.

According to the Lenovo study, employees identify the main benefits of IT powered by AI as the capability to resolve IT issues with minimal disruption, thanks to the automatic identification and resolution of IT-related problems, as well as the ability to provide 24/7 support, even during weekends and holidays.

As workplaces have evolved with the rise of hybrid work, IT support for employees clearly hasn't kept pace. With the growing adoption of cloud services, digital intelligence and the metaverse, organizations' IT environments are only going to become more complex, so effective IT support will become even more essential to employee experience and morale.
