Little by little, normalcy will be restored to the area," the regional police said on Twitter. A Catalan police spokesperson told Reuters a security guard had heard a ticking noise in a waste bin and saw protruding cables, prompting the station's closure in late afternoon.

On Monday, police shut the station at around 5 p.m. (1500 GMT) after they were alerted that an inbound train allegedly carried a bomb. Once officers had searched the train, they concluded there was no danger and allowed services to resume.
