Samsung TV Plus update brings UI enhancements and new features

Samsung is rolling out a new update to its free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) and video-on-demand service, Samsung TV Plus. The update, labelled Samsung TV Plus version 5.2, brings user interface (UI) enhancements and new features to streamline content discovery and elevate the user experience (UX) and will be available on all Samsung Smart TVs released in 2019 or later.

With this update, you will see a redesigned home screen that provides an overview of content available for viewing, in addition to popular titles and recently watched content. It also features newly added categories on the left side of the home screen to include sections such as Live TV, Movies/TV Shows, Music, Kids and Settings, and more.

Samsung has also added region-specific tabs, based on each region’s content catalogue and user preference to cater to the needs of different markets. For instance, the Music tab is available to Samsung TV Plus users in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand while the Kids tab is rolling out to users in the U.S., Europe, Brazil, Mexico and India. In addition, users in India will also see the new News tab with multilingual support.

With the latest update, Samsung is also expanding the Video on Demand (VOD) offerings and features of Samsung TV Plus, allowing users to access VOD from the channel guide. This enables instant playback of select programs without waiting for a specific episode to come on the channel. Additionally, the new "More Like This" feature offers content suggestions based on your viewing history, providing tailored content discovery that aligns with your preferences.

Samsung TV Plus offers over 2,500 channels globally as well as thousands of shows and movies on-demand spanning news, sports, entertainment, auto, design and more.
