Microsoft launches fifth annual Imagine Cup Junior for students

Microsoft has launched the fifth annual Imagine Cup Junior (ICJ) competition - a global challenge for students aged 5-18 to learn about technology and how it can be used to solve some of the world's biggest challenges.

The competition is open to any student interested in learning more about artificial intelligence (AI), with no technical background needed. The 2024 Microsoft ICJ challenge is open for registration via www.imaginecup.com/junior starting January 11. Team Leaders must submit projects on behalf of their student teams by May 8, 2024.

Students can participate in Imagine Cup Junior via a Team Leader such as an educator, instructor, staff member, school leader, parent, or guardian. After successful registration, Team Leaders get access to all the resources needed to educate students and run a great Imagine Cup Junior challenge.

The winners of the competition will be announced on June 13, 2024. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top 10 teams.

"Last year thousands of students from more than 100 countries participated in the ICJ challenge. The judges recognized 10 global winners who created incredible concepts to address Microsoft's AI for Good initiatives. Many countries and areas hosted local competitions and acknowledged the top local teams. In 2024, we're excited to see even more students participate in the challenge and learn the impact that digital technologies such as AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity can have on the world," Microsoft said.
