Samsung continues reign as global TV market leader for 18 consecutive years
Samsung Electronics continues its reign as the global TV market leader for 18 consecutive years. According to the latest findings by market research firm Omdia, Samsung clinched a 30.1% share of the global TV market in 2023, a testament to its enduring dominance since 2006.
This success is largely due to Samsung's strategic focus on premium and large-screen TV categories, propelled by its state-of-the-art QLED and OLED models.
Samsung is a top player in the premium TV sector, especially for TVs larger than 75 inches and those priced above $2,500. The company records an impressive 60.5% market share in terms of sales for TVs priced over $2,500, while also leading with a 33.9% sales share for TVs over 75 inches. Additionally, robust sales of 98-inch models ensure that TVs over 90 inches continue to dominate the market with a 30.4% share.
Furthermore, Samsung has also made significant strides in the OLED sector, with its OLED TV lineup recording 1.01 million units sold in 2023, capturing a market share of 22.7%.
"We are proud to be recognized as the market leader in the global TV sector for 18 consecutive years, a testament to the enduring trust and loyalty our customers place in Samsung. We are deeply committed to advancing the industry, moving beyond exceptional picture quality to offer more meaningful and valuable experiences," said SW Yong, President and Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
