Located near Krishnanagar in West Bengal, Mother's Hut restaurant is captivating diners by employing robots named Ananya to serve food. This innovative approach not only delights patrons but also signifies the resilience and strength of women, who manage all operations at the eatery.
Ananya, a five-foot-tall robot, navigates the restaurant with ease, politely requesting patrons to give way if obstructed. Assembled by the restaurant’s IT team in collaboration with a local software company, the robots symbolize technological advancement and homage to a former staff member.
With plans to introduce more robots in the coming year, the restaurant aims to fully automate its services, creating India’s only AI-driven dining experience in the eastern region, according to co-owner Anath Bandhu Garai. Despite the excitement, some customers, like medical student Asif, feel that robot services cannot replace the human touch entirely.
