Infosys co-founder and chairman Nandan Nilekani on Wednesday highlighted the impressive valuation of startups built on India's digital public infrastructure, pegged at USD 100 billion.
Addressing the annual Global Fintech Fest, Nilekani emphasized that the creation of Aadhar and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) aimed to provide foundational frameworks for private sector innovation. 'The market value of startups utilizing India's DPI is estimated to be around USD 100 billion,' he noted.
Introducing a new finance concept called 'Finternet,' Nilekani, an influential figure behind Aadhar and UPI, explained its vision of a user-centric and integrated financial system that spans all asset types. Highlighting the challenges current financial systems face in meeting user demand for more choice and control, he elaborated on the potential for tokenizing various assets, including land, property, bonds, and art, under a single infrastructure.
