SAALBACH, Austria, Feb 14 - In a remarkable display of skill, Austria's Raphael Haaser captured the gold medal in the men's giant slalom at the Alpine Skiing World Championships. Overcoming a fifth-place start after the first run, Haaser surged ahead to triumph with a narrow 0.23-second advantage over Swiss competitor Thomas Tumler. Fellow Swiss skier Loic Meillard completed the podium in third place.

This achievement represented Austria's second gold medal at this year's championships, and notably, the first in the men's events, amplifying the host nation's success on home snow.
