India's Green Light for Starlink: A Boost for Satellite Internet

The Indian government has granted Starlink, SpaceX's satellite internet service, a Letter of Intent for satcom services. This marks a pivotal step in enriching India's satellite internet landscape, joining the ranks of Eutelsat OneWeb and Jio Satellite Communications. Starlink's LEO satellites promise enhanced global broadband connectivity.

The Indian government has issued a Letter of Intent to Starlink for providing satellite communication services, insiders revealed on Wednesday.

Starlink, developed by SpaceX, an aerospace firm created by Elon Musk in 2002, offers high-speed and low-latency internet globally through its robust satellite technology.

Insiders informed PTI that India's Department of Telecom (DoT) has now included Starlink in its list of licensed satellite internet providers, following Eutelsat OneWeb and Jio Satellite Communications. Starlink's use of a massive constellation of low earth orbit satellites stands out for efficient broadband delivery, capable of supporting activities like streaming and online gaming.
