East Tech Symposium Highlights: India's Self-Reliance Key to Strategic Autonomy

At the East Tech symposium, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan emphasized self-reliance as crucial for achieving strategic autonomy in India's military pursuits. He advocated for policy advancements in areas such as space, Artificial Intelligence, and quantum missions.

Gen Chauhan expressed the necessity for strategic weapon selection and urged a review of research and development to fit modern demands. He highlighted India's need to expand its defence manufacturing base through innovation, such as integrating AI and new technologies.

The CDS also confirmed that India's indigenous systems have shown promise, citing successful deployments during Operation Sindoor. He called for threat-driven project selections and suggested bolstering defence diplomacy through multidisciplinary collaborations to advance capability development.
