Cloudflare Restores Services After Major Outage Disruption
Cloudflare experienced an outage preventing access to major platforms like X and ChatGPT. The issue, starting due to an oversized configuration file, has been resolved, though some users may still be affected. Shares fell, and no malicious activity was detected. The incident recalls past disruptions from cloud service providers.
Cloudflare has successfully restored its services after a significant outage disrupted access to major platforms such as X and ChatGPT. The outage, which began around 6:30 a.m. ET, was triggered by an overly large configuration file intended to handle security threats, crashing the software system.
The company, which manages about 20% of global web traffic, has implemented a fix, although a number of customers might continue to face issues as services are restored worldwide. In light of the disruption, Cloudflare shares saw a 2.3% decline during morning trading.
The company confirmed that the outage wasn't caused by malicious activities and reiterated its role in ensuring websites and apps remain resilient against traffic surges and cyberattacks. This incident follows a similar outage at Amazon's cloud services last month, impacting numerous sites globally.
