The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has charted a bold course with 148 innovative R&D projects approved in the past three years, a move unveiled during a parliamentary session. Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth reported this strategic push aims to bolster India's defence capabilities.

Collaborative efforts are central to this initiative, with 15 dedicated DIA-CoEs guiding research across 82 promising verticals. Allocations reflect this focus, with budget estimates growing steadily from Rs 21,330.20 crore for the fiscal year 2022-23 to an anticipated Rs 26,816.82 crore by 2025-26, bolstering defence manufacturing and research development.

DRDO has developed a network with over 2,000 industries, ensuring smooth technology transfer for defence production without transfer fees. A new policy is also on the horizon to foster interactions with start-ups and harness their innovative potential, enhancing the defence sector's technological edge.
