The Odisha government is set to host a two-day AI Summit starting December 19, state IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling confirmed on Wednesday. Organized by the Electronics & IT Department, the summit will act as a precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026 scheduled for February in New Delhi.
India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, aims to become a global leader in artificial intelligence applications, with Odisha keen to be at the forefront of this movement. Mahaling emphasized Odisha's future-ready approach to technology-led growth with its AI Policy 2025 and other progressive frameworks for sectors like FinTech and advanced electronics.
According to Vishal Dev, principal secretary of the Electronics & IT department, the conference aims to showcase AI implementations already underway in healthcare, education, and agriculture, among others. The summit will convene policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers to discuss Odisha's long-term AI priorities and strategies.
