India's Battle Against the Onslaught of Spam Calls
India ranks as the fifth most spam-affected country globally, driven by sales and telemarketing calls. Truecaller's 2025 report highlights that India recorded a spam intensity of 66%, with sales and telemarketing at 36% and financial services at 18%. Scams contributed to 12% of the spam activity.
In a striking revelation, India has emerged as the fifth most spam-hit nation in the world, with relentless sales and telemarketing calls leading the charge. The findings come from Truecaller's latest report detailing the global landscape of spam in 2025.
Indonesia tops the list of countries inundated with spam, followed by Chile, Vietnam, and Brazil. According to data collected from Truecaller's extensive user base of 500 million, more than 68 billion spam and fraud calls were identified worldwide.
In India, the spam intensity reached a notable 66 percent. The nature of these unsolicited calls was overwhelmingly commercial, with sales and telemarketing contributing to 36 percent of the activity. Financial services made up 18 percent, while scam-related calls accounted for 12 percent.
