Apple looking to make significant upgrades to cameras on upcoming iPhones

Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the company is looking to upgrade the selfie camera from 7-megapixels to 12-megapixels in upcoming iPhone models, as per 9to5Mac report. The iPhone camera lens will also change to a 5-element lens component as against a 4P lens on the existing models, the analyst suggests.

According to the report, the U.S. smartphone giant is going to use a special black coating technology to blend super-wide and front camera lenses better with the surrounding, thus giving it a more appealing look.

The report also claims that the much-rumoured triple-camera system will come to the 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED iPhones. Furthermore, Kuo predicts that the next iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models will feature a triple camera setup consisting of a 12 MP telephoto lens, 12 MP wide-angle sensor, and a 12-megapixel super-wide-angle lens. The wide-angle lens is to be manufactured exclusively by Sony.

The reported upgrades are expected to come to all three iPhone 11 models due to be launched in September, this year.
