The cause of the outage is not known yet. Facebook and WhatsApp, which are owned by the same parent company like Instagram, have not been reported to suffer any issues.
A few days ago also, there were reports of Facebook and Instagram not working properly in many parts of the world with users complaining that they were unable to log in, upload pictures, or update their status.
The outage is the latest in a string of major outages for the service around the world. The social media company experienced a major outage in March, as well as two others in April and in July.
