- China
Home robots, intelligent transport systems, rapid 5G coverage are among the 10 megatrends shaping the future towards 2025, Chinese tech giant Huawei said in its annual Global Industry Vision (GIV) report today.
Prepared using Huawei's own quantitative data and real-life use cases of how technology is rapidly transforming every industry, the GIV report identifies 10 megatrends that will shape a better future for everyone. A peek into Huawei's vision for 2025:
- Living with bots
Robots or simply bots are here to stay, not only for industrial use but also to assist us with our daily tasks by providing a range of home services. Rapid advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT) are powering the uptake of robotics. According to GIV predictions, 14 percent of families across the globe will have an intelligent domestic robot in the near future.
- Super Sight
Evolving technologies like the Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, AI and 5G are powering super sight, pushing through the barriers of time and recreating history. The technology will let us see beyond distance, distortion, surface, and history, thus opening up numerous opportunities for tourism, culture, transport, and education. GIV predicts that 10 percent of companies will use AR/VR by 2025.
- Zero Search
The future of search will be completely different as users will no longer search information, instead, the information will find them. As AI, smart assistants and other data-driven devices will integrate into our lives and collect information about our interests, preferences or needs, these smart platforms will automatically recommend or offer information and services to us. GIV predicts that 90 percent of smart device owners will use intelligent personal assistants.
- Tailored Streets
Transport in the near future will be intelligent, congestion-free, smarter and safer. By utilizing IoT, AI solutions vehicles will be more connected, drivers will communicate in real-time which will help in better monitoring and controlling of the traffic situation. 15 percent of vehicles will have Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything technology, as per GIV predictions.
- Working with Bots
AI-fuelled automation technologies, particularly robots, have already started changing the nature of work, making things better and faster. Smart robots will perform hazardous, repetitive, and high-precision tasks, resulting in time-saving, high productivity and safety. By 2025, as GIV predicts, there will be 103 industrial robots for every 10,000 employees, working side by side.
- Augmented Creativity
In the future, Cloud AI and other emerging technologies will greatly reduce the cost and time spent on scientific experimentation and success rates will be dramatically high. According to GIV predictions, 97 percent of large enterprises will deploy AI into their operations.
- Frictionless Communication
The future of business-to-consumer communication will be more seamless and transparent. Real-time data will help businesses understand customer preferences, buying habits and other behaviors. AI-powered translation devices will break language barriers. GIV predicts that companies will fully utilize 86 percent of the data they produce.
- Symbiotic Economy
Companies are rapidly integrating cloud computing, artificial intelligence, smart sensors, and other advanced solutions into their daily operations and services. All companies in the world will use cloud technology by 2025 and 85 percent of business applications will be cloud-based, according to GIV prediction.
- 5G's rapid rollout
The world is ready to brace for 5G technology. From autonomous vehicles to smart cities, 5G will reshape the future of connectivity. GIV predicts that by 2025, 58 percent of the global population will have access to 5G.
- Global Digital Governance
To reap the value of technological innovation, the hyper-connected world will have to find ways to safely and responsibly use the huge amount of data by shared standards and principles. GIV predicts that by 2025, GIV predicts that the volume of global data will reach 180 ZB (1 ZB = 1 trillion GB) annually.
