Mario Moreno or more popularly know as Cantinflas was one of the most famous entertainers in Latin America. He worked in more than fifty films winning hearts of audiences all over Mexico. Google Doodle today has honored Cantinflas on his 107th birthday.

He was a household name in Mexico. It was through the movie Around the World In Eighty Days in the year 1965 that he got worldwide recognition.

Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes was born in the Santa María la Ribera, a neighboring city to Mexico. He was born to a  Pedro Moreno Esquivel, an impoverished mail carrier, and María de la Soledad Reyes Guízar.

He was a known clown, acrobat, musician, bullfighter, and satirist. He left his school and joined a traveling tent show. He was soon given a chance to perform as a comic satirist and pantomime artist. He was the undisputed king of the Latin America entertaining industry.

He was also associated with Peladito or underdog and was famous for playing the role of a destitute. Admired for his comic use of language, his talent got admiration from none other but the silent film legend Charlie Chaplin.
