Rocket carrying two astronauts to ISS makes emergency landing; Crew safe

Both US astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin have left their Soyuz capsule and are both in good condition, NASA television reported later on Thursday.

Russian space agency said a Soyuz rocket taking an American and a Russian astronaut to the International Space Station on Thursday was hit by an engine failure.

Both US astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin have left their Soyuz capsule and are both in good condition, NASA television reported later on Thursday.

Soyuz made an emergency landing near the city of Zhezkazgan in central Kazakhstan after its booster rockets failed in mid-air en route to the International Space Station.

"Search and rescue teams are in the air and heading towards the expected touchdown location for the Soyuz spacecraft returning to Earth carrying two crew members, NASA in a statement
