Sudan and South Sudan pledge to resume work at two major petroleum companies
The ministers pledged to bring oilfields operated by Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) and Sudd Petroleum Operating Company (SPOC) back on track.

The Minister of Petroleum of the Republic of South Sudan, Ezekiel Lol Gatkouth met with H.E. Azhari Abdul-Gadir Abdalla, Minister of Petroleum and Gas of the Republic of Sudan to discuss the possibilities of resumption of oil production at two of South Sudan's petroleum operating consortia.
The ministers pledged to bring oilfields operated by Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) and Sudd Petroleum Operating Company (SPOC) back on track.
They also highlighted the uncapping of Block 5A and the increase of oil production at the oilfields of Dar Petroleum Operating Company (DPOC).
OIl fields operations by GPOC and SPOC were shut down due to the conflict in the northern areas of South Sudan, leaving DPOC as the only operational oil producing company.
The two ministers understand the importance of the resumption of oil production in South Sudan fields.
