Dry fruit prices dip on muted demand

Dry fruits: Almond and walnut prices declined at the wholesale dry fruits market in the national capital during the week as demand from retailers and stockists receded at prevailing higher levels.

Marketmen said sufficient stocks following increased arrivals from producing belts also exerted pressure on the prices.

Lower advice from overseas markets also dampened the trading sentiment to some extent.

Almond (California) prices were trading lower by Rs 400 to Rs 19,100-19,300 per 40 kg and its kernel rates also edged down by Rs 10 to end at Rs 675-685 per kg.

Almond gurbandi and girdhi declined by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 10,800-11,800 and Rs 3,800-4,300 per 40 kg, respectively.

Cashew kernel (No 180, 210, 240 and 230) prices were down by Rs 10 each per kg to conclude at Rs 1,065-1,070, Rs 955-975, Rs 870-875 and Rs 760-770 and its broken (2, 4 and 8 pieces) variety also eased up to Rs 15 to finish at Rs 710-760, Rs 600-715 and Rs 500-660 per kg, respectively.

Chilgoza-roasted fell Rs 100 to end at Rs 2,200-2,300 per kg.

Coconut powder fell Rs 100 to finish at Rs 4,200-4,900 per 25 kg.

Kishmish Indian yellow and green declined up to Rs 500 to finish at Rs 8,300-8,800 and Rs 10,500-13,500 per 40 kg bag.

Pistachio hairati and peshawari traded lower at Rs 5 each to Rs 1,570-1,600 and Rs 1,660-1,680 per kg.

Walnut and its kernel prices also fell by up to Rs 10 to end at Rs 350-450 and Rs 650-1,050 per kg, respectively.
