AfDB and ILO workshop dedicated to African Business and Employment

The National Office of the African Development Bank in Guinea (COGN), in collaboration with the Guinean Prime Minister and the International Labor Office (ILO) launched, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Hotel Kaloum (Conakry, Guinea), a workshop dedicated to the African Business Directory of Occupations and Employment (ROAME).
This workshop is in line with the Guinea Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2018-2022 - in the process of being finalized - whose main objective is to contribute, through its projects and programs, to meet the challenges of employment, while creating the conditions for sustainable and inclusive growth in Guinea.
The African Business Directory of Trades and Employment is a powerful tool for development and management of skills, which promotes a better training-employment match and brings supply and demand closer to the labor market. This directory can serve not only as a reference tool for different public services and private employers looking for specific skills but also, and above all, an indicator for schools and training institutes to enable them to adapt their curriculum to the needs of the market.
The launching ceremony was presided by Guinean Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, in the presence of the Minister of Social Action, Mariama Sylla, the Minister of Technical Education, Vocational Training, Employment and Lansana Komara, Minister of Commerce, Boubacar Barry, Minister of Youth and Youth Employment, Mouctar Diallo, Minister of Livestock, Roger Patrick Millimono, Minister of Territorial Administration and decentralization, General Bouréma Condé. In her opening address, Ibrahima Kassory Fofana recalled the interest of the Guinean government in the issue of youth employment. He thanked the African Development Bank and the International Labor Office for their support.
Before him, Mr. Léandre Bassolé, Country Manager of the Bank in Guinea, in his welcome, reminded that one of the flagship projects of the CSP 2018-2022 is specifically dedicated to agriculture and employment of young people: the Guinean Agriculture Transformation Support Project, Youth Entrepreneurship Component (PATAG-EAJ). And to recall the Bank's commitment to support Guinea's efforts for strong, inclusive and job-creating growth.
The workshop brought together more than 80 participants, including representatives of ministries and institutions, as well as technical and financial partners, including the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Economic Community of African States. West (ECOWAS) and the International Labor Office (ILO).
The workshop is the first pilot phase in the agriculture, agribusiness and agribusiness sector, and will enable the drafting and validation of the first job descriptions resulting from the processing of the questionnaires administered on the site. the basis of a sampling.
