UPDATE 1-Ukraine removes Hungary's OTP bank from its 'sponsors of war' list
The bank was added to the list in May due to continuing operations in Russia. It was suspended from the list on Sept.
Ukraine has removed Hungary's OTP bank from its list of "international sponsors of war" - companies accused of financially supporting Russia's invasion - the Ukrainian National Agency of Corruption Prevention said on Monday.
"During the discussions that lasted for the last few days 24/7 with the participation of the EU External Action Service, OTP Bank made a number of commitments regarding its future plans for the Russian market," the agency said to explain its decision. The bank was added to the list in May due to continuing operations in Russia. It was suspended from the list on Sept. 29, as Kyiv hoped the decision would lead to Hungary unblocking 500 million euros of EU military assistance, but Budapest said the suspension indicated no significant changes.
